Though he practiced during the 5th century B.C., many of his contributions to medicine and surgery preceded similar discoveries in the western world.

Acharya Susruta was not only one of the earliest pioneers in surgery in the World and also one of the earliest to study the human anatomy, Acharya describes about the method of dissection in the good old days before the modern anatomy exists.

Acharya Susruta has not only described the anatomical structures and its situations but also described the dissection in detail.
